The 65th Annual General Meeting of CBCNEI

65 agmThe 65th Annual General Meeting of The Council of Baptist Churches In North East India (CBCNEI) was successfully held at Tura Baptist Church from 24-26 April 2015 with the theme “Being rooted and grounded in love” based on Ephesians 3:17. The Garo Baptist Convention (GBC) graciously hosted the entire conference.

Rev. Don Ng, President of American Baptist Churches, USA was the guest speaker. Along with him speaking on the theme were the Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo, Former President, and the Rev Dr Solomon Rongpi, General Secretary of CBCNEI. The morning Bible Study was led by the Rev. Zhabu Terhuja, Former President of Eastern Theological College, Jorhat. The conference choir ensembles were Eastern Theological College, Jorhat and Harding Theological College, Tura. Recording secretaries Mrs. Lochi Bonjera A. Sangma and Mr. K Rajen Tarao recorded the event.

The conference kick started on 24 April evening with the inaugural service chaired by Rev. Halli Likha, Vice President, CBCNEI. The delegates and congregations were warmly welcomed with a song by Tura Baptist Church Choir. The welcome and introductory speeches were addressed by the Rev. Janang R. Sangma, General Secretary, GBC and the Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi, General Secretary, CBCNEI. The conference was attended by around over 200 delegates representing the Conventions, Churches and Associations from all parts of North East region.  The three days conference was scheduled on bible studies in the morning led by the Rev. Zhabu Terhuja followed by business sessions. Mean while the delegates were taken for sight – seeing of Tura Town during the evening socialization time. The Sunday devotional and felicitation service witnessed a throng of thousand believers where  Rev. Dr. Don Ng conveyed a message on ”being rooted and grounded in love” and being one family in Christ.

The concluding valedictory service was chaired by the Rev. Mikim Perme, General Secretary, Arunachal Baptist Church Council.  The installation of the new office bearers was conducted by guest speaker Rev. Don Ng and Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi conveyed the last sermonic message.  A thankful note was delivered by the outgoing president, Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo.

CBCNEI would like to thank the Garo Baptist Convention for shouldering the responsibilities of hosting this grand conference and making it a success.
